ANSWER: There is no difference in the Spanish language used in countries around the world. The grammar and vocabulary are the same everywhere.

The accent used in one area may differ from another, but this will not hinder communication or understanding between people. It is similar to the difference between English speakers in the United States and English speakers in England. The accents are different, but the language is the same.

There are also localisms that present differences between countries. For example, in Spain a ticket for a bus is called a billete and in South American countries this same ticket may be called a boleto. Both words are proper Spanish in Spain and South America, but it is the custom of the place that determines usage preferences.

Finally, it is important to know that success in your studies will enable you to speak Spanish anywhere and to communicate well with all native speakers. Any differences they detect in your presentation of Spanish will be insignificant if the words you choose and the grammar you use are correct and proper.
